A shocking video of racial abuse faced by a dance team from Arunachal Pradesh in Bihar has emerged online. The footage has triggered massive outrage in social media, with users, particularly from the Northeastern states demanding thorough investigation and accountability. Netizens have called on Arunachal Prime Minister Pema Khandu and Bihar Police to take cognisance of the matter.
Racist Slurs Hurled, Video Goes Viral
The video, filmed on April 2, at a hospital in Patna, shows how a dance team, who had come to perform in the state, faced abuse for just asking to use a washroom. The matter escalated after an attendant in a beige uniform stopped the group from using the restroom, demanding their ID cards. When the group resisted, the lady allegedly hurled racist slurs at them, calling the group, “Momos," “Chinki," and “Chinese.” In the video, the attendant is seen laughing despite knowing that she has been caught on camera.
One of the girls, who filmed the incident is heard saying: “Hum log apna Northeast se ghumne ke liye aate hain, par aise 1-2 karan se hum darte hain (we come from the Northeast to travel, but because of incidents like this, we are scared)." No official response and FIR have been registered on the matter so far.

Netizens React To Incident
The video is widely shared on social media, with netizens condemning the action of the lady and calling for accountability. The incident has once again highlighted the racism against Northeastern people in some parts of the country. “Strict legal action must be taken against this individual for her derogatory remarks. Such racial abuse against our sisters from the Northeast is not just an insult to them, but an attack on India's unity. Hatred and divisive agendas have no place in our country,” a user wrote.
“Bengalis are Bangladeshi, Northeastern Indians are Chinese! Most probably the problem is deep routed, of course related to education and literacy,” another user wrote. A third user commented, “Stupid pepole are those who make fun of our own brothers and sisters from Northeast. They are the ones who embrace India with open arms, and we call them names. I feel ashamed and heartbroken.”
