Jagran Correspondent, Noida | Four lakh residents of Greater Noida West are set to get a big relief from the traffic jab as the Aqua Metro extension project received the NOC from the Railway Board. The Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) management has received the NOC from the Railway Board for the Aqua Metro extension to the Greater Noida West Metro project.

What Next After Railway's NOC

Now, NMRC MD Krishna Karunesh will present its utility to the Public Investment Board (PIB) in four to five days. After approval from the PIB, the Detailed Project Report (DPR) will be sent to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA). The Public Investment Board (PIB) has invited presentations on the project. While the presentations were scheduled for the first week of June, they were postponed for some reason.

Construction permission for the project is now expected to be issued by the end of June. Three months later, the tender process will be completed to begin construction on the project, and the work will be awarded.

Karunesh stated that the construction of this route will benefit approximately 1.25 crore people. Additionally, commuters travelling from Gaur Chowk and Noida to Greater Noida West will be relieved of traffic congestion. This will be an extension line, and its budget will be low. The Central government, State government, Noida, and Greater Noida authorities will jointly contribute funds based on equity.

Which Are Proposed Metro Stations?

The current cost of the metro project from Sector 51 to Greater Noida West Sector 4 (Kisan Chowk) is approximately Rs 1,500 crore. This 7.5-kilometre route includes five metro stations: Sectors 61, 70, 122, 123, and Greater Noida Sector 4 (near Kisan Chowk).

Plan To Build A Five-Station Corridor

The NMRC plans to build a five-station corridor from Greater Noida West Metro to Kisan Chowk. A separate proposal has been submitted to the Ministry. If the proposed RRTS route is approved, this five-station metro route from Sector 51 to Sector 4, Greater Noida West, will not be affected.

Future Plans Considered

This route will be separate from the RRTS and will connect Noida and Greater Noida West. This line will connect the proposed RRTS from Ghaziabad to Jewar Airport. This will allow Noida residents to travel to Jewar Airport via both the Metro and RRTS. Although construction will take approximately two years, this line will create a loop, making it easier to travel to Ghaziabad, Noida, Greater Noida, and Delhi.

Greater Noida West To Be Connected To NCR

The metro extension project line will connect the proposed RRTS from Ghaziabad to the Noida International Airport in Jewar, allowing Noida residents to travel to the airport via the Metro and RRTS. While construction will take approximately two years, this line will create a loop, making it easier for residents of Greater Noida West to travel to Ghaziabad, Noida, Greater Noida, and Delhi.
