State Bureau, Shimla | Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu-led government has achieved another major success in protecting the interests of Himachal Pradesh. A high-level meeting chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi regarding the much-awaited Kishau Dam project resulted in a historic decision in the state's favour.
Himachal Set To Get Rs 600 Cr From The Kishau Dam Project
Following the meeting, Sukhu informed the media at Himachal Sadan that after the current government's tough stance, new conditions have now been agreed upon, which will generate an annual income of over Rs 600 crore for Himachal Pradesh without any expenditure by the state government.

This new agreement on the Kishau Dam project is being considered a major strategic victory for CM Sukhu, which will give fresh impetus to the state's development efforts in the future. In addition to Himachal, officials from Uttarakhand, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh also participated in the meeting.
The Sukhu government strongly presented its case before the Central government. He explained that the current state government had flatly refused to accept the agreement reached during the previous Jairam Thakur government, as it ignored the state's financial interests. Finally, the Himachal government's new conditions were accepted in a meeting presided by Home Minister Shah. This is another major and historic decision towards making the state self-reliant. The state's interests have once again prevailed due to the state government's strategic efforts.
Key Benefits To Himachal From The Project
The state will not have to spend any funds from its own treasury for the construction or operation of the project. Once power generation begins, Himachal Pradesh is expected to receive revenue of over Rs 600 crore annually. This financial benefit will strengthen the state's economic position and accelerate the resolve for a self-reliant Himachal.
