State Bureau, Chandigarh | Senior Punjab Congress leader and former chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi, who has been showing a rebellious attitude against the Punjab Congress high command's list for the assembly elections since July 1, changed his stance on Thursday.

Channi, who was adamant on removing Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring from his post, has now backtracked.

Channi has been protesting the high command's decision for nearly 15 days. He held a key meeting with Congress Organisation General Secretary KC Venugopal at Indira Bhawan, New Delhi this afternoon. MPs Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, Pargat Singh, Rana Gurjeet Singh, and Vijay Inder Singla were also present at the meeting.

All Is Well: Channi After Key Meeting In Delhi

After meeting the party leadership, Channi said, "All is well. We are committed to the party; we will follow the party line."

"Several leaders were called here today, and we have presented our point of view. However, one thing is absolutely clear: we stand with the party. We respect the party high command. Rahul Gandhi is our leader; we love him. All our workers and leaders stand firmly with the party and will continue to do so," he said while speaking to reporters after meeting Venugopal.

The former Punjab chief minister said he has no intention of embarrassing anyone or belittling anyone. "We simply want to take the party forward in Punjab, and we have presented our case. The high command has listened. The final decision always rests with the high command; whatever decision they make, we will accept it and move forward accordingly," he added.

The Congress leader said he was never against the party, nor has he ever tried to embarrass it. "We will abide by whatever decision the party takes. All is well. We are committed to the party; we will follow the party line," he asserted.
