AI Exposes 'Hidden Faces' At CJP Protest? Delhi Police Identifies Over 980 People With Criminal Records

The Delhi Police investigation into the week-long violent protests at Jantar Mantar over the alleged NEET paper leak and demands for education reforms has revealed that a significant number of those present had criminal backgrounds.

According to police sources, an analysis of the protesters found that 989 of the 2,873 people identified at the protest site had criminal records, with many allegedly being history-sheeters and repeat offenders involved in serious crimes.

AI-Based Facial Recognition Used During Probe

Following incidents of stone-pelting and violence during the demonstrations, investigators suspected that anti-social elements and habitual offenders may have infiltrated the protests. To verify this, Delhi Police deployed AI-powered Facial Recognition System (FRS) cameras at Jantar Mantar and surrounding areas.

The identities captured through the FRS were cross-checked with the police database. According to the investigation, 989 individuals were found to have previous criminal records, many linked to serious offences.

Police sources claimed the findings suggest that the violent protests were not attended solely by students or demonstrators but also included individuals with extensive criminal histories. Authorities have identified those involved through FRS technology and are preparing to conduct raids to apprehend the suspects.

Criminal Cases Linked to Identified Protesters

According to the investigation, the identified individuals were allegedly linked to the following offences:

Police Say Many Were Repeat Offenders

Delhi Police sources said the investigation indicates that several of those identified had long criminal histories and were allegedly habitual offenders.

Among those identified:

- Of the 101 individuals linked to murder cases, 42 were allegedly involved in two or more criminal cases, while 12 had 10 or more cases registered against them.

- Of the 62 accused in attempted murder cases, 25 were allegedly repeat offenders with multiple criminal cases.

- Among the 284 individuals linked to robbery and dacoity, 155 had two or more criminal cases, while 31 had 10 or more cases registered against them.

- Of the 61 individuals linked to rape cases, eight were identified as repeat offenders. Similarly, six of the 25 accused in cases involving the molestation of women allegedly had multiple criminal cases.

- Among the 67 individuals linked to NDPS cases, nine were found to be repeat offenders.

According to police sources, the investigation is ongoing, and further action will be taken based on the evidence collected.
