State Bureau, Kolkata: The troubles for Trinamool Congress National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee continue unabated. Two FIRs have been filed against him in his parliamentary constituency, Diamond Harbour, in connection with alleged corruption involving Rs 550 crore.

The first FIR was filed at the Kalitala police station in South 24 Parganas alleging theft of soil worth Rs 300 crore. The second FIR was filed at the Vishnupur police station in the district alleging corruption of Rs 250 crore in Cyclone Amphan relief material.

Multiple Administrative Officials Named In FIR

The FIR also names Abhishek's personal secretary, Sumit Rai, and several other block-level administrative officials at the time. The FIR was filed by BJP leader Abhijit Das. Several non-bailable sections have also been added to the FIR.

Inquiries Underway In Several Cases

Abhishek Banerjee is being questioned in various cases. On Tuesday, the CID questioned him for 6.5 hours at Bhawani Bhavan in Kolkata in connection with his inflammatory speeches during the assembly elections. This marked the third consecutive day that an investigating agency has questioned him in connection with a case.

Inquiry Underway In Teacher Recruitment Scam Case

On Monday, ED officials questioned Abhishek for 11 hours in connection with the teacher recruitment scam. Earlier, on Sunday, CID officials questioned him for 8.5 hours in connection with the forged signatures of Trinamool MLAs in the Assembly. Last Wednesday, he was questioned for 5.5 hours in the same case. Thus, over four days, investigating agencies have questioned Abhishek for a total of 31.5 hours.
