Social activist Sonam Wangchuk's indefinite hunger strike at Jantar Mantar continued for the 19th day on Thursday. She has lost more than nine kilograms of weight during the hunger strike.

Doctors fear that starvation could begin to negatively impact his organs. Meanwhile, he has released a video message urging people to support the Cockroach Janata Party's (CGP) proposed Parliament March on July 20th.

Aam Aadmi Party's national convener Arvind Kejriwal and Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh, SP MPs Dimple Yadav and Dharmendra Yadav, farmer leader Rakesh Tikait, along with many MPs and MLAs and social workers, came to extend their support.

The court said that the life of every citizen is precious

The Delhi High Court on Thursday heard a petition concerning the health of activist Sonam Wangchuk, who is on a hunger strike at Jantar Mantar. Expressing concern over the hunger strike, the court stated that every citizen's life is precious and the government should make every effort to protect them.

During the hearing, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for the Central government, told the court that Sonam Wangchuk undergoes a daily medical check-up and updates about his health are provided regularly.

Based on the Solicitor General's assurances, the Court directed that Sonam Wangchuk's medical condition be monitored daily and that necessary medical assistance be provided, if required, based on medical advice. With this direction, the Court disposed of the Public Interest Litigation (PIL).

Police on alert over Sonam Wangchuk's hunger strike

Ahead of the monsoon session of Parliament, Delhi Police have increased surveillance at Jantar Mantar to support Sonam Wangchuk, who is on a hunger strike. Supporters and leaders of political parties have announced via social media that they will gather at Jantar Mantar on July 20th to support Sonam Wangchuk, before the session begins.

In view of this, the police have increased their activity. Sonam Wangchuk's health is also deteriorating, raising the possibility that the police may remove him from Jantar Mantar and admit him to a hospital.
