What Is Rao Bahadur All About?

Rao Bahadur follows the story of Bhuvanam Ramappa Rao Bahadur, a wealthy landlord who is suffering from a terminal illness. He lives in his ancestral mansion, Bhuvanalayam. Ramappa strongly believes that his younger son, Kusuma, was not his biological child. He becomes obsessed with proving his suspicion.

His wife, Renuka, has shut herself away from the world after Kusuma's death. Their elder son, Lavana, tries his best to keep the family together despite the growing tension.

The story also looks back at Ramappa's younger days. He was once a progressive man. But everything changed after a strange encounter with his ancestors. From then on, he became determined to protect his family's bloodline. After marrying Renuka, rumours about Kusuma's parentage slowly made him suspicious. His obsession eventually led to Kusuma's tragic death and the family's downfall.

Years later, Ramappa secretly digs up Kusuma's remains to conduct a DNA test. This decision sets off a series of events. The test confirms that Kusuma was Ramappa's biological son. Ramappa dies believing that his family's bloodline has been proven right.

But the truth comes out during Ramappa's funeral. Renuka reveals that it is actually Lavana, not Kusuma, who is not Ramappa's biological son. Achari then reveals another shocking secret. Ramappa himself had been adopted. The revelation exposes the irony of his lifelong obsession with bloodline.

In the end, Lavana becomes the new head of the ancestral mansion. However, supernatural signs suggest that the family's painful cycle is far from over.
