Cannes 2026: The 2026 Cannes Film Festival is taking place in France. While Alia Bhatt was recently seen praising the former Miss World at Cannes 2026, an old video of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan talking about the Raazi actress has started trending again on social media. The clip is from 2018, during the promotions of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s film Fanney Khan.

In the viral video, Aishwarya Rai speaks candidly about how Karan Johar has supported Alia Bhatt from the very start of her career. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan said, “I have said this to her (Alia Bhatt) also, ‘It’s fantastic for you’. The kind of support Karan (Johar) has given to her from the beginning, and to have that kind of an establishment with you is very comforting because you know it is not tough."  

The Devdas actress further added that it is great to see Alia doing good work with the 'great opportunities' she receives regularly.

Meanwhile, Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt, who walked the red carpet on May 13, 2026, recently sat down for an interview with British Vogue to discuss the festival's legacy. When asked about her favourite fashion moment from the French Riviera, Alia Bhatt looked back to 2002, when Aishwarya Rai Bachchan made her debut for the premiere of the film Devdas.

Alia Bhatt said, “A Cannes look that actually goes down in my memory as absolutely iconic would have to be Aishwarya Rai Bachchan at the Devdas premiere. The beautiful saree that she wore and just her face, it was iconic.”

In May 2002, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan arrived at the festival alongside co-star Shah Rukh Khan and director Sanjay Leela Bhansali. She wore a vibrant mustard-yellow Kanjeevaram saree designed by Neeta Lulla.

Alia Bhatt Upcoming Movies

On the professional front, both actresses have exciting projects. Alia Bhatt will soon reunite with Sanjay Leela Bhansali for the film Love & War, starring alongside her husband Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal. She is also set to star in the YRF spy-universe film Alpha.
