Vicky Kaushal has landed in controversy after a video of him making “wife jokes” at a wedding went viral on social media. The actor, often praised as a “green-flag husband” for his relationship with Katrina Kaif, is now facing criticism from a section of the internet. In the viral clip, Vicky is seen interacting with guests at a wedding and asking the groom to say his popular dialogue from Uri: The Surgical Strike, “How’s the josh?” As the crowd responded with “High, sir!”, the actor followed it up with a joke about married life.

Vicky Kaushal said, "Maine yeh dekha hai ki bachelors ka josh hamesha high rehta hai. Hum shaadi-shuda waalon ka josh saal dar saal girta rehta hai. Par tension lene ki baat nahi hai, 4 din mein josh kam nahi hota." While the remark appeared light-hearted at the event, it did not go down well with many people online. Several users called the joke outdated and inappropriate, especially in today’s time.

One user wrote, "we're seriously STILL making misogynistic 'marriage' jokes in 2026? should've left these on comedy nights with kapil in 2016." Another commented, "I don't like it when men make fun of their marriage in public. It indirectly insults their wife & it's not funny. When people say ..Take it as a joke...no, it isn't funny." The video has sparked a wider debate on social media about humour around marriage and whether such jokes are still acceptable. Many users pointed out that portraying married life as a burden reinforces old stereotypes.

Some also highlighted what they saw as a double standard. They argued that if actors like Ranbir Kapoor or Ranveer Singh had made similar comments, the backlash might have been even stronger. Another section of users felt that such jokes, even if harmless between couples, should not be made publicly. They said public statements by celebrities often carry more weight and can be misunderstood. Despite the criticism, some fans defended Vicky, saying the comment was meant to be taken lightly. However, the incident has clearly affected his “green-flag” image among a section of netizens.
