Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has officially voiced his support for the students participating in the Cockroach Janata Party's (CJP) nationwide protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi. Taking to social media on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, the 60-year-old actor commended the youth for peacefully demanding urgent reforms in the country’s examination system while issuing a firm warning against political parties hijacking the movement.
Salman Khan Backs CJP Protest
Sharing a throwback childhood photograph of himself in a school uniform, Salman Khan expressed deep sadness over the recent violent clashes that erupted between students and police during the 'Chalo Sansad' march on July 20.
In his official Instagram statement, Salman Khan wrote, “It was such a peaceful movement, feel so sad that it had to take a violent turn. My heart goes out to the students and their families who were hurt.” He further stated, “This andolan, this protest, is the right way to go about it.”

Praising the courage of the younger generation and the support of their parents, he added, “I truly appreciate the stand they have taken, showing dedication, sincerity, and keenness to study hard and make their future and a greater, educated India.”
While backing the youth, Salman Khan strongly cautioned external political entities against taking advantage of the agitation for personal or party gains. He emphasised that the core issue remains strictly between the students and the administration.
Warning political groups, the actor wrote, “This issue is between the students and the educational system, it should not be hijacked politically, the credit should only go to the students of our country.”
Expressing confidence that the government will address the grievances constructively, Salman urged that education should become the country's "next trend and fashion." He concluded on an optimistic note, hoping that India would eventually transform into a global education hub.
Growing Film Industry Support For Protesting Students
Several prominent celebrities, including Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Dulquer Salmaan, Pooja Bhatt, Imtiaz Ali, Naseeruddin Shah, Shabana Azmi, and Prakash Raj, have actively backed the CJP-led protest, demanding stricter safeguards against paper leaks and greater accountability from the Union Education Ministry.
