As per Ranveer Singh’s legal team, his comments were made out of genuine admiration for the film and the lead actor, Rishab Shetty. Singh’s legal team also argued in court that his comments were a genuine form of praise and have been misinterpreted as a criminal offense.
Singh’s legal team also stated that there was no ill intention behind his comment and that it should not be given a criminal angle. They also brought to notice that the actor has already received two official notices from the police regarding this matter.

Court Refuses Urgent Hearing
During the hearing, Singh’s lawyers asked the court to take up the case urgently and have a hearing on the same day. They claimed that the actor is under constant stress due to the case. However, the High Court refused to fast-track the case.
Justice Nagaprasanna asked whether the case should be given priority only because Singh is a popular Bollywood actor. The statement made by the judge reflects the court’s position on treating everyone equally, irrespective of their popularity.
The court has decided to go ahead with the legal procedure and has scheduled the official hearing for tomorrow. The case is still in the limelight as people wait for the court’s verdict.
All About Ranveer's Kantara Mimicry Controversy
The controversy started with Ranveer Singh’s mimicry of a Daiva scene from the climax of Kantara: Chapter 1 at the closing ceremony of IFFI 2025 in Goa. Although appreciating Rishab Shetty and the film’s impact, he referred to the Chamundi Daiva sequence. Although Shetty laughed during the incident, many people criticised Singh for referring to the holy Daiva as a ghost.
On the work front, Ranveer Singh was recently seen in Aditya Dhar directed film Dhurandhar, which became a blockbuster hit at the box office. Now the film’s sequel Dhurandhar 2 is set to release on 19th March 2025.
