The highly anticipated film of Alia Bhatt and Sharvari, Alpha, is already making waves before its release. Since it is the first film in YRF’s Spy Universe to feature a female lead, the expectations are already sky-high. Recently, there were reports that the film might bypass the theatres and have a direct OTT release. However, the latest reports indicate that Yash Raj Films has rejected a huge digital offer and will be releasing the film on the big screen.
Alpha: YRF Rejects Rs 215 Crore OTT Offer, Confirms Big Theatrical Release

As per reports by Variety India, Yash Raj Films was offered a deal of approximately Rs 215 crore by Netflix for the direct-to-digital release of Alpha. However, the production house refused the deal, which was quite surprising given the massive amount involved.
A spokesperson for YRF denied the rumours of the direct OTT release of their film and stated that the rumours are intended to malign a female-led film. He said that YRF is a firm believer in the concept of theatrical releases and will not be releasing their films directly on OTT platforms.

The spokesperson said, “Alpha is going to stream directly, aimed at putting a heroine-fronted film in an unflattering light. Yash Raj Films will never put films from its theatrical slate directly to streaming. We are a studio that takes immense pride in making cinematic experiences. Alpha is a tentpole movie for the company."
Alia Bhatt and Sharvari Lead the Spy Universe Film
The action movie features Alia Bhatt in the lead role along with Sharvari. YRF stated that they are sure that the audience will also like this action entertainer, just like other big spy films.
The movie has been mostly filmed in Kashmir. Actor Bobby Deol is expected to play the main villain, who will be a mentor-turned-enemy to Alia’s character.
Alpha Release Date Postponed
Alpha's initial release date was set for December 25, 2025. Later, because of some unfinished VFX work, it was rescheduled for April 17, 2026. According to recent reports, the release date has been further delayed to avoid conflicting with Salman Khan's Battle of Galwan at the box office. Alpha is one of the most anticipated movies because of its action, high production values and female-led spy plot.
