In a post on X, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised all those associated with the film. He said that the victory was a moment of great happiness, particularly for Manipur. Narendra Modi wrote, “Congratulations to all those associated with this film. This is indeed a moment of immense joy, especially for Manipur. It also highlights the immense creative talent in our nation.”

Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani React to PM’s Praise

Replying to the post, the producers, Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, thanked the Prime Minister for his kind words. Farhan thanked the Prime Minister on social media for his appreciation. Ritesh Sidhwani also posted a message, saying that this award means a lot to the whole team and all those people who believed in the story. He hopes that this success will inspire more storytellers from all over India.

Boong Beats Strong International Nominees

Boong won this prestigious award after competing against other major foreign films such as Arco, Lilo and Stitch and Zootopia 2. Directed by Lakshmipriya Devi, the film tells the tale of a little child who grows up in Manipur amid a time of political and social tension.

The movie, which debuted in theatres in September 2025, had already received widespread acclaim after showings at numerous film festivals across the globe. Shujaat Saudagar, Alan McAlex, Vikesh Bhutani, Ritesh Sidhwani, and Farhan Akhtar co-produced Boong. For Manipuri cinema and Indian storytelling on the international front, the BAFTA victory represents a significant turning point.
