Ram Charan's Telugu Movie Peddi Inspired By Real-Life Daily Wage Worker, Reveals Director

Peddi is inspired by a poignant real-life story, which has sparked curiosity among fans eagerly awaiting filmmaker Buchi Babu Sana's Telugu movie. The upcoming sports drama stars Ram Charan in the lead, with Janhvi Kapoor joining him for their first-ever on-screen collaboration. Touted as a pan-Indian entertainer, Peddi has already created strong buzz for its emotional setting and sports-focused storyline.

Peddi filmmaker disclosed in a recent interview with M9 that Peddi Raju, a real youngster from his village, served as the inspiration for this movie. The director claimed that the character stayed with him for years before turning into the movie's main character.

Peddi Real-Life Story

Peddi Raju was a daily wage worker at construction sites and hailed from a very impoverished household, according to Buchi Babu. He earned extra money by playing basketball and cricket in local games in addition to his job.

According to the director, the youngster had exceptional athletic talent and was well-known in the community for nearly single-handedly assisting teams in winning games. Buchi Babu claimed that because the villagers wanted Peddi Raju to play games for their teams, they would frequently prevent him from going to work.

Buchi Babu disclosed that due to the young player's exceptional abilities on the field, people would even pay him to play. As time went on, the director saw how emotionally stirring and cinematic the boy's life seemed. "He used to win matches single-handedly. I felt his personality and journey had the potential for a powerful cinematic character. That thought eventually became the foundation for the story of Peddi".

The filmmaker shared that each time he saw Peddi Raju, he sensed a powerful movie character within him. Though the filmmaker noted that the movie also incorporated fictional elements around the initial inspiration, that idea gradually served as the basis for Peddi.
