Raja Shivaji Box Office Day 1: Riteish Deshmukh’s highly anticipated historical drama, Raja Shivaji, has made a thunderous impact at the box office following its release on May 1, 2026. The film, which Riteish directed, co-wrote, and starred in, tells the legendary story of the founder of the Maratha Empire. According to early reports, the film has set new benchmarks for Marathi cinema while performing strongly in Hindi markets.

According to reports by Sacnilk, the film has grossed an impressive Rs 8 crore net on Friday from Marathi version alone."This achievement makes it one of the highest-grossing openers in the history of the Marathi film industry. By earning this amount, it has comfortably overtaken previous record-holders like Sairat and Timepass 2.

When combining the earnings from both language versions, the film's total is even more impressive. Raja Shivaji collected Rs 11.70 crore net in India on its opening day. This total includes Rs 8.75 crore from the Marathi version and Rs 2.95 crore from the Hindi version.

With these figures, Raja Shivaji has surpassed Manikarnika’s (2019) opening-day figures of Rs 8.75 crore. While it fell short of some other massive historical epics like Chhaava (which opened at Rs 33.50 crore in 2025), it remains a significant achievement for a regional production. The film is reportedly the most expensive Marathi movie ever made, with a budget of Rs 100 crore.
