Raj Kapoor and Nargis' love affair blossomed during the Golden age of Bollywood. Though it never culminated in marriage, it still continues to fascinate film lovers decades later.
The beginning of romance
Raj Kapoor and Nargis first worked together in the late 1940s. They delivered classics like Aag, Barsaat, Awaara, Shree 420 and Chori Chori. Their on-screen chemistry reflected the deep bond they reportedly shared off-screen. At the time, however, Raj Kapoor was already married to Krishna Kapoor.

If the reports are to be believed, Nargis frequently visited RK Studios. Despite their closeness, the relationship reportedly reached a breaking point when Nargis realised Raj Kapoor was unwilling to leave his family or marry her.
Raj Kapoor and Nargis' last movie together, Chori Chori, is often seen by fans as the symbolic end of an unforgettable chapter.
Later, Nargis also chose to move on with her life. During the filming of Mother India (1957), actor Sunil Dutt famously rescued her from a fire on the set. The incident brought Nargis and Sunil Dutt closer and the two married in 1958, beginning a new chapter built on mutual respect and companionship.
