The makers of the popular streaming series Panchayat have officially begun filming for its much-awaited Season 5. Marking a special milestone, the team took to Instagram on Friday to celebrate the show completing six years since its debut, while also sharing the exciting update about the new season going on floors. The announcement post featured a mix of memorable stills from the series along with behind-the-scenes glimpses, giving fans a nostalgic look back while building anticipation for what lies ahead in the upcoming season.
The announcement read, "6 years of being in Phulera and never wanting to leave. #PanchayatOnPrime, New Season, Now Filming."
Panchayat has become one of India’s most loved shows since its debut in 2020, with Season 4 leaving a strong impact. The season ended on a gripping note, with Sachiv Ji planning his next step after his CAT results, Manju Devi dealing with her election loss and Pradhan Ji shaken—leaving fans eager to return to Phulera.
Written by Chandan Kumar and directed by Deepak Kumar Mishra and Akshat Vijaywargiya, Panchayat features a strong ensemble cast including Jitendra Kumar, Raghubir Yadav, Neena Gupta, Chandan Roy, Faisal Malik, and Sanvikaa, along with several supporting actors. The story revolves around an engineering graduate who takes up a job as a panchayat secretary in the fictional village of Phulera, Uttar Pradesh, due to limited career opportunities.
Premiering on April 3, 2020, the series received widespread acclaim for its writing, performances, and realistic portrayal of rural life. With four successful seasons released so far, the show was renewed for a fifth season in July 2025, which is expected to premiere in 2026.
