Naga Chaitanya has moved the Delhi High Court seeking protection of his personality rights over the alleged unauthorised use of his name, image, merchandise, AI-generated and explicit content online. His legal team also objected to content accusing him of cheating on ex-wife Samantha Ruth Prabhu and damaging her career.
According to a report in Hindustan Times, during the hearing before the Delhi High Court, senior advocate Vaibhav Gaggar, appearing for Naga Chaitanya, argued that several websites were allegedly using the actor’s name alongside explicit search terms to drive online traffic and circulate objectionable material.
The legal team also raised concerns over AI-generated and manipulated videos falsely depicting Chaitanya in objectionable situations. In addition, advocate Gaggar objected to defamatory content involving Samantha Ruth Prabhu, including claims that Chaitanya cheated on her and harmed her career, calling it “trolling” rather than fair criticism.

The suit further alleged misuse of AI tools, deepfake technology and voice-cloning software to create fabricated content harming Chaitanya’s reputation and privacy. Defamatory YouTube videos targeting the actor were also highlighted before the court.
During the hearing, the court observed that while public figures are open to scrutiny, there are clear limits to it. Chaitanya’s lawyer also sought a dynamic injunction, arguing that such allegedly harmful content appears online regularly.
