These five Indian shows from Byomkesh Bakshi to Asur and others, promise suspenseful entertainment and are ideal choices for anyone seeking something as captivating as Sherlock, regardless of whether you appreciate solving problems with detectives or love tough investigations.

Indian Dectective Series For Sherlock Fans

British television show Sherlock (2010, Netflix) is a modern crime drama starring Benedict Cumberbatch as brilliant detective Sherlock Holmes and Martin Freeman as Dr John Watson. Set in present-day London, the series follows the duo as they solve complex crimes using intelligence, observation and deduction, making it one of television's greatest detective shows.

1. Byomkesh Bakshi (1993, Prime Video)

The series is based on the famous stories of Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay and stars Rajit Kapur as detective Byomkesh Bakshi and KK Raina as Ajit, which was premiered on DD National. Arshad Warsi plays the forensic expert Dhananjay ‘DJ’ Rajpoot and Barun Sobti is Nikhil Nair in Asur. The series is one of the best psychological crime thrillers from India and keeps you guessing till the end with a mix of investigation, mythology, forensic science and serial murders.

3. The Family Man (2019, Prime Video)

The series features Manoj Bajpayee as intelligence officer Srikant Tiwari and Priyamani as his wife Suchitra. Though primarily an espionage thriller but each mission is about finding hidden conspiracies, smart investigations and thrilling twists, making it a compelling watch for Sherlock lovers.

4. Crime Stories: India Detectives (2021, Netflix)

This documentary-series follows real Bengaluru police officers, including senior investigators dealing with complex criminal cases. Viewers don’t see staged detectives, but real investigations, evidence collection and interrogations. The realistic view of crime-solving is every bit as riveting as any scripted detective show.

5. Kohrra (2023, Netflix)

Suvinder Vicky plays Balbir Singh in Kohrra, while Barun Sobti plays Garundi. In rural Punjab, the two look into a murder that occurred prior to a wedding. It is among India's greatest contemporary detective series because of its poignant narrative, intricate mystery, and outstanding performances.
