Karuppu Box Office Collection Day 1: The highly anticipated rural action drama Karuppu, starring Suriya, arrived in cinemas on May 14, 2026. Despite facing some technical hurdles on its opening morning, the film has managed to register a strong start at the box office. Directed by RJ Balaji, the movie brings a gritty and authentic portrayal of village life, combined with the high-octane action fans expect from a Suriya starrer.

According to trade reports, the Tamil movie enjoyed a very healthy start across the globe. According to Sacnilk reports, Karuppu collected a healthy Rs 14.40 crore net in India on its first day from 4,891 shows. This domestic performance brings the total India gross to Rs 16.66 crore. International markets gave the film an extra boost, adding Rs 4 crore from overseas territories and pushing the total worldwide opening day collection to a fantastic Rs 20.66 crore.

The Tamil version of the film led the charge, contributing Rs 12 crore net to the domestic total with an overall theatre occupancy of 54 percent. The Telugu version, released under the title Veera Bhadrudu, brought in Rs 2.40 crore net. While the morning shows started with a modest 24.54 percent footfall, the film saw its best turnout during the night slots, where Tamil regions recorded a massive 75.15 percent occupancy.

Region-wise, Tamil Nadu has comfortably emerged as the biggest market for Karuppu, delivering a gross of Rs 10.50 crore on day one. Andhra Pradesh and Telangana together added Rs 2.75 crore, followed by Karnataka with Rs 2 crore and Kerala with Rs 1.25 crore. While it scored a confident start, it just missed out on beating Suriya's previous best opening record set by his 2024 film Kanguva, which had earned Rs 22 crore net in India on its first day.

Karuppu Cast And Plot Details

Karuppu follows the story of a brave man who becomes the protector of his village during a period of intense conflict. As deep-seated rivalries and old secrets come to light, he must choose between his family, his faith, and his duty to seek justice. Trisha Krishnan plays a pivotal role, providing the emotional weight that balances Suriya’s intense action sequences.
