O’Romeo: After the reunion of director-actor duo Vishal Bhardwaj and Shahid Kapoor was announced, moviegoers were overjoyed, considering their past works. They have surely done it again after Kaminey, Haider, and now O’Romeo, delivering a gripping tale of a gangster whose turbulent love story is shaped by obsession and violent consequences. Shahid's Romeo avatar as Ustra, a ruthless gangster whose life gets upside down after the entry of Triptii Dimri’s Afshan. Jalal (Avinash Tiwary) also adds depth and intensity to the layered storyline.
The movie draws inspiration from real-life events and is set against the backdrop of 1995. There is Ustara, a maniac Mumbai gangster known for killing people with a Ustara (razor). He falls in love with Afshan, who seeks revenge for the murder of her husband and childhood love Mehboob (Vikrant Massey). Their lives become connected with a gangster, Jalal (Avinash Tiwary), who is aided by a corrupt police officer and a local politician. The film unfolds as a story of two hearts entangled in unexpected ways, driven by love and revenge.

Another X user commented, "After a terrific first half I was left kinda disappointed by Vishal Bhardwaj’s O’Romeo, which crumbles under its plot heavy with contrivance and flashbacks that stop its propulsive momentum dead. It’s got plenty of style to spare so the action is top-notch atleast."

Whenever he’s on screen, #ORomeo truly feels alive.
He tried to pull it single-handedly, but a sluggish screenplay just couldn’t justify his performance. Another powerful act lost in a weak film.

Is O’Romeo Worth The Hype?
Shahid has given it his all to play a deadly contract killer entangled in gang wars and unexpected romance. He steals the show single-handedly with his impactful, action-packed performance. Triptii Dimri's character Afshan seeks revenge for her husband's death and enters into a volatile relationship with Ustara. The film also stars Nana Patekar, Farida Jalal, Tamannaah Bhatia and Disha Patani. It's not a light Valentine's Day romantic story, but it's a dark, violent, action-packed and emotionally charged narrative.
