The 50 Show Review: Colors TV and JioHotstar’s new reality show The 50 kicked off on February 1 with a grand and dramatic premiere. Featuring 50 celebrity contestants competing over 50 days for a Rs 50 lakh prize, the show promises intense competition, strategy, and drama. What sets it apart is the absence of a traditional host instead, a mysterious figure called The Lion controls the game.

The first episode wasted no time on slow introductions. Contestants were quickly divided into teams, alliances began forming, and the first task tested both physical strength and mental sharpness. Popular names like Karan Patel, Prince Narula, Urvashi Dholakia, Nikki Tamboli, Shiv Thakare, and Mr Faisu stood out early, while others struggled to make an impact due to limited screen time.

However, the show does suffer from a noticeable Bigg Boss hangover. With many former Bigg Boss contestants on board, unnecessary arguments and forced drama occasionally overshadow the actual gameplay. Still, the large-scale format, fast pacing, and competitive tasks keep things engaging. The episode ended on a tense note with the first eviction, setting the tone for a season full of rivalries and twists.

The 50 Show Twitter Review

While some netizens have praised the show’s format and contestants many consider it over hyped. One user on X (formerly Twitter) wrote, “ This show has zero hype. Super boring. Contestants lack fire only tamasha going on. Feels like 50 people locked in a zoo. Only a little hype for Manisha, Kataria, Rajat, Faizu & Maxtern. Rest are just doing fake fights for footage.” Another user wrote, “ watched the 1st ep & a few clips of #The50Show & it's a sh*t show. thank God gud creators like #AbhishekMalhan and others didn't take part. Every year these ppl come out with similar shows having little differences & hype it like anything & this #RajatDalal  bloody goon.”

While it’s too early to judge the final outcome, The 50 has made a strong first impression and shows potential, provided it focuses more on gameplay than recycled reality-show drama.
