Married at First Sight UK is facing a major crisis following severe allegations of sexual misconduct from three female participants. The accusations, which include rape and threats of an acid attack, reportedly occurred during the filming of the series, which is marketed as a 'bold social experiment'.
The controversy intensified after a BBC Panorama documentary aired, featuring two women who claimed they were raped during production. One victim alleged that Channel 4 and the production company, CPL, proceeded to air her episodes despite being formally notified of the assault. A third participant has since come forward accusing her on-screen husband of non-consensual sex.
In response to the backlash, Channel 4’s Chief Content Officer, Ian Katz, described the allegations as 'very serious' and promised a formal response after a full internal review. Consequently, the network has removed all seasons of the show from its streaming platform, citing a duty of care and privacy for the contributors involved.
