Ek Din Box Office Day 1: The romantic drama Ek Din, starring Junaid Khan and Sai Pallavi, made its theatrical debut on May 1, 2026. Despite the anticipation surrounding Sai Pallavi’s first Bollywood film and Junaid Khan’s second big-screen outing, the movie has got off to a very slow start. Competing against the massive historical epic Raja Shivaji, the simple love story found it difficult to pull in large crowds on its opening day.
According to early figures, the film failed to reach even the one-crore mark. According to the trade website Sacnilk, Ek Din collected Rs 0.81 crore net in India on its opening day. With an overall theatre occupancy of just 14%, the film struggled to create a major impact in the Hindi-speaking markets.
This opening is particularly disappointing when compared to the lead actors' previous work. Junaid Khan’s first film, Loveyapa, performed slightly better on its debut, while Sai Pallavi’s past hits in the South saw much higher numbers. Junaid’s theatrical debut Loveyapa, which did not fare well at the box office, had a Rs 1.15 crore opening. Meanwhile, Sai Pallavi’s Telugu hit Love Story had earned a massive Rs 9.05 crore on its first day, showing a huge gap between her regional success and this new Bollywood release.
The main reason for the low numbers was the intense competition. May 1 saw a major box office battle between Junaid Khan and Riteish Deshmukh. While Ek Din is a quiet remake of the Thai film One Day, Raja Shivaji is a big-budget historical drama about the founder of the Maratha Empire.
The difference in their earnings was vast. The Riteish Deshmukh starrter opened its account with a collection of Rs 11.35 crore on the first day. This strong performance by the competition left very little room for Ek Din to grow.
