Diljit Dosanjh has officially ended all rumours regarding his entry into politics. On Saturday, May 9, 2026, the singer-actor responded to a growing public appeal asking him to become the new political face of Punjab especially after Vijay's Tamil Nadu win. In a clear and direct message, Diljit Dosanjh stated that he has no interest in leaving the world of entertainment.
Diljit Dosanjh Rejects Calls To Enter Punjab Politics
The discussion started after a group called the Jago Punjab Manch, led by retired bureaucrat SS Boparai, published an article titled ‘Can Diljit Dosanjh be the new political face of Punjab?’ The group, which includes retired soldiers and civil society activists, urged the singer to take a leadership role. They argued that Punjab needed a leader who had never asked for power and could unite the people.
Responding to the suggestion on X (formerly Twitter), Diljit Dosanjh wrote, “Kadey v Nhi.. Mera Kam Entertainment Karna. Am Very Happy in My Field. Thank You So Much.”
Diljit Dosanjh’s refusal comes at a time when he is frequently caught in political crossfire. During his Aura Tour in Canada earlier this month, he spoke about the backlash he receives from different groups in India and abroad. The Border 2 actor reportedly shared, “When I go to India, they say, 'Khalistani aa gaya oye.' When I come here, they say something else. I get abuses from both sides. I don't get where I should go. There's only one path I know I should follow.”
Despite these challenges, Diljit Dosanjh has continued to represent Punjab on the global stage. He recently made headlines for his appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and his record-breaking concert in Vancouver. Although he has been seen with leaders like Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi, he has maintained that his focus remains purely on his art.
