BTS, Madonna and Shakira are set to co-headline the first-ever FIFA World Cup halftime show. The announcement was officially made by FIFA. The exciting reveal came through a teaser trailer featuring Chris Martin and Elmo, alongside familiar Muppet characters including Miss Piggy and Kermit the Frog. Together, they introduced Madonna, BTS and Shakira as the star performers for the historic show.
FIFA also confirmed that proceeds from the halftime show will go towards the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, an initiative aimed at raising $100 million to improve access to quality education and football opportunities for children around the world.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup final is scheduled to take place on July 19 in New Jersey. FIFA had earlier experimented with halftime entertainment during the 2025 Club World Cup, where Doja Cat, Tems and J Balvin performed. The trio was also selected by Chris Martin. Notably, the last FIFA World Cup hosted in the United States was in 1994, which went on to become the most attended edition in the tournament’s history. The 2026 celebrations are set to begin on June 11.
Meanwhile, Nora Fatehi is all set to perform and sing at the opening ceremony of the FIFA World Cup 2026 in Toronto. The grand event will take place on June 12 at BMO Field. Nora will share the stage with several international artists, including Michael Bublé, Alanis Morissette, Alessia Cara, Elyanna, Jessie Reyez, Sanjoy, Vegedream and William Prince.
