Bhooth Bangla Box Office Collection Day 1: The long-awaited reunion of Akshay Kumar and director Priyadarshan has proven to be a masterstroke at the box office. Their latest collaboration, Bhooth Bangla, arrived in theatres on 17 April 2026, and has instantly made its mark. According to early trade reports, the film has "dethroned" the long-standing leader, Dhurandhar 2, ending its impressive four-week streak at the top of the charts.
Bhooth Bangla has opened with a powerful worldwide gross of Rs 23.90 crore on its first day. In the domestic market, the film earned Rs 12.25 crore net, but when including the successful paid preview screenings from Thursday evening, the total India net rises to approximately Rs 15.75 crore. These figures slightly exceeded early industry predictions, which had estimated a debut of around Rs 15 crore.
The film's financial success is split between a strong Rs 18.90 crore from Indian markets and an additional Rs 5 crore from international territories. This performance officially places Bhooth Bangla among the top five biggest opening day grossers for Akshay Kumar in the post-pandemic era, trailing only behind hits like Sooryavanshi and Housefull 5.
For a month, Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar: The Revenge dominated Indian cinema halls. However, the arrival of Akshay's horror-comedy caused a "steep drop" for the spy thriller on its 30th day. While Dhurandhar 2 earned roughly Rs 2.70 crore net on Friday, it still holds a massive cumulative net total of Rs 1,105.82 crore, cementing its place as a historic blockbuster. To accommodate the new release, many theatres had to reallocate screens, showing the high demand for the Priyadarshan-Akshay duo.

Fans have flocked to theatres to witness the signature "chaos" that Priyadarshan is known for. The film boasts a stellar ensemble cast, including Tabu, Wamiqa Gabbi, Rajpal Yadav, and Paresh Rawal. It also features a poignant appearance by Asrani in his "farewell role."
Produced by Akshay Kumar, Shobha Kapoor, and Ektaa R Kapoor, the film has successfully tapped into a sense of nostalgia. As one analyst noted, "the film marks the duo’s reunion after over 15 years, generating strong excitement among fans." If current trends continue, Bhooth Bangla is set for a massive jump in collections over its first weekend.
