Christopher Nolan’s long-awaited movie The Odyssey is finally in theaters on July 17, 2026, and the first reactions from the audience are very positive. The mythological action drama starring Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Zendaya and Anne Hathaway has wowed viewers with its stunning visuals, emotional storytelling and powerful performances. Reviews immediately started flooding into social media soon after the first screenings, with many calling it one of Nolan’s best films. 

The Odyssey Twitter Review: Audiences Call It Masterpiece 

Soon after the film's release, X (formerly Twitter) was filled with positive reactions from fans. Many viewers praised the breathtaking visuals, large-scale action scenes and impressive IMAX experience.

One user wrote, "Indisputably the most epic and visually striking film I've ever seen. It'll certainly win Best Picture." 

Music And Pacing Receive Appreciation

Apart from the visuals, the film’s background score and the storytelling too were appreciated by the viewers. Although it is long, many felt that the movie held the audience's attention from beginning to end. 

Another user shared, "I saw #TheOdyssey today and holy f**k it's really freakin' great! I was worried about whether or not I was actually gonna like it but I ended up loving it! The intro gets you hooked, the pacing is good and the music during the action sequences is chef's kiss."

One viewer posted, " I am completely blown away I LOVE YOU TOM HOLLAND I LOVE YOU ZENDAYA."

Critics Call The Odyssey Only Okay

Meanwhile some critics also felt that the film was only okay not the best of Christopher Nolan's career. 

One user wrote, "Saw the Odyssey. In terms of entertainment value, it’s ok. Not Nolan’s best. But you can’t overlook how it subverts Homer’s tale to deliver a feminist message to audiences."

 

The other wrote, “Just finished odyssey. 7.5/10 tbh. No Achilles in the movie. should’ve spent more time in the present day with Odysseus and Calypso.”

According to the Sacnilk report, the advance booking for the film is estimated at Rs 17 to 18 crores. With glowing audience reactions and positive word of mouth, the film has started its theatrical journey on a strong note and is expected to perform well in the coming days.
