Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani-starrer is one of the biggest blockbusters in Bollywood. Despite this, it sparked immense debates surrounding Shahid Kapoor's overly aggressive character. In my opinion, instead of a love story, Kabir Singh was a story of a man who desperately needed a therapy.

Here, I am not questioning the idea of flawed protaginists, but there is a huge difference between portraying flawed behaviour and unintentionally romanticising it.

Kabir, who is intelligent and deeply passionate about his career, is also impulsive, controlling and emotionally volatile. I believe that he could have processed his heartbreak in a healthy way, instead of simply turning to alcohol, drugs and more. To me, these are signs of unresolved emotional pain.

Kabir Singh blurs line between romance and obsession

The biggest question that came to my mind while watching Kabir Singh was why would a woman simply bear a slap from her boyfriend? To me, it is a red flag and not an expression of love.

Why Kabir needed a therapy?

The plot could have been more intriguing if Singh had not chosen self-destruction. Imagine him taking thearapy, accept responsibility and slowly rebuild himself. I think that journey would have been just as emotional and impactful.

In my opinion, Kabir Singh remains memorable because of its performances and emotional intensity. However, I don't think it needed a love story to become iconic. I believe it needed therapy, self-awareness, and the courage to show that asking for help isn't a weakness—it's one of the bravest things a person can do.
