Ek Din Movie Review: Sai Pallavi-Junaid Khan’s Romance Gets Mixed Reactions From Fans

The highly anticipated romantic drama Ek Din, starring Sai Pallavi and Junaid Khan, finally arrived in cinemas on May 1, 2026. Set against the beautiful backdrops of Japan, the film marks the Hindi film debut of Sai Pallavi. While some viewers have found the story refreshingly heartwarming, others on social media have questioned its lack of originality, as the film is an adaptation of the 2016 Thai hit, One Day.

Directed by Sunil Pandey and produced under the prestigious Aamir Khan Productions, Ek Din tells the story of Rohan (Junaid Khan), a shy office worker. Rohan has secret feelings for his colleague Meera (Sai Pallavi) but is too nervous to tell her. During a work trip to Japan, a miracle allows him to spend exactly one day with her.

Film critic Subhash K Jha praised the film’s soft approach to storytelling, noting that it stands out in an era of loud action films. Many users expressed fatigue with the film industry’s reliance on remakes and adaptations. One early viewer mocked the title, asking, "#EkDin - Kya yeh chalegi EK BHI DIN???"

Another major point of discussion was the script's similarity to the original Thai version. One user pointed out that "#EkDin borrows almost everything except the climax, perhaps because it would have limited its appeal." There were also mixed feelings about Sai Pallavi’s Hindi debut, with some fans worried about her accent, while others called her performance "outstanding."

Final Verdict: Is Ek Din Movie Worth Your Time?

For those looking for a peaceful, emotional experience, Ek Din seems to be a solid choice. However, for audiences seeking a brand-new concept the film might be a drawback.
