Dharmendra Pradhan’s Educational Qualification:  Dharmendra Pradhan hails from a political family and was born on June 26, 1969, in Talcher, Odisha. His father, Debendra Pradhan, served as a Union Minister of State. Before taking over the Education Ministry in 2021, he handled several key portfolios, including Petroleum and Natural Gas, Steel, and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. 

During his college days, his association with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) laid the foundation of his political career. While studying, he served as the president of the Talcher College Students’ Union. His inclination towards politics made him move from campus politics to electoral politics and later become one of the key leaders in the Union government.

Educational Journey of Dharmendra Pradhan 

Pradhan completed his schooling and college education in Odisha. He studied at Talcher College and later completed his Master of Arts degree in Anthropology from Utkal University, Bhubaneswar. Simultaneously, he was an active participant in college politics. His political career spun off after he became the president of the Talcher College Students’ Union. He continued his association with ABVP after college and later became the organisation’s national secretary.

Political Journey After Education

Pradhan became active in youth politics after completing his graduation. Over the years, he moved from one hierarchical position to another, finally becoming the Union Cabinet Minister. He represented Bihar and Madhya Pradesh in the Rajya Sabha before being elected to the Lok Sabha from Sambalpur, Odisha. 

Dharmendra Pradhan’s Ministerial Career

Dharmendra Pradhan joined the Union government in 2014. Under the current government’s regime, he was appointed as the Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Petroleum and Natural Gas. Later in 2017, he became the Cabinet Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas. During his tenure, he was responsible for regulating policies related to  India’s petroleum and natural gas sector.

Pradhan was appointed as the  Union Minister for Education and Minister for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship in 2021. As the former Education Minister, he oversaw the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
