Uttarakhand School Holiday Tomorrow: Uttarakhand authorities have announced school closures in multiple districts after the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Dehradun, predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning on July 31. The precautionary measure has been taken to ensure the safety of students, teachers and staff.

Schools from Classes 1 to 12, Anganwadi centres, and in some areas higher educational institutions, will remain closed on Friday. District administrations have directed education officials and concerned authorities to strictly implement the holiday orders issued in view of the adverse weather conditions.

Bageshwar And Rudraprayag Schools Closed On July 31

The district administrations of Bageshwar and Rudraprayag have declared a one-day holiday on Friday, July 31, for all government, aided and private schools from Classes 1 to 12. All Anganwadi centres in both districts will also remain closed as a precaution against heavy rainfall and possible weather-related disruptions.

Physical Classes Suspended In Parts Of Rishikesh

In the Haripur Kalan village area under Rishikesh Tehsil, authorities have suspended physical classes from July 31 to August 11, 2026. The order covers government and private schools, higher education institutions, technical and vocational institutes, and Anganwadi centres located in the affected area. Educational institutions may continue academic activities through alternative arrangements, wherever applicable.

Why Were Schools Closed?

The IMD, Dehradun, has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall along with thunderstorms and lightning in several parts of Uttarakhand. Considering the possibility of waterlogging, landslides and travel disruptions, district administrations decided to suspend classes to safeguard students and school staff.
