UGC Scholarship Update: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has announced key updates regarding the scholarships available for the North Eastern Region. Sharing through the official X handle, UGC has announced that it will soon open the application process for the National Scholarship for Post-Graduate Studies (NSPG) and the ISHAN UDAY Special Scholarship Scheme. Eligible candidates must apply through the official National Scholarship Portal.
Furthermore, the Commission has requested the Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to assist candidates throughout the application process and verify the submitted details within the prescribed deadline.

INOS To Complete Verification Within 15 Days
Following the submission of the online application form, the UGC has asked the Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to ensure that the Institutional Nodal Officers (INOs) verify the submitted applications and documents within 15 days of their receipt. They have to verify and approve/defect/reject scholarship applications before the deadline, allowing candidates enough time to rectify any errors in their application form before the closing of the portal.
ISHAN UDAY Special Scholarship Scheme: Key Aspects
The scheme is designed to encourage higher education among students from India's North Eastern Region (NER). It is launched by the University Grants Commission (UGC). Applicants must be permanent residents of the NER and have passed Class 12 from a recognized Board. Selected candidates under this scheme will get a monthly stipend of Rs 5,400 for general degree courses and ₹7,800 for technical, professional, or medical courses.
What Is NSPG?
NSPG stands for the National Scholarship for Post-Graduate Studies. Launched by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, it is a central sector scheme for providing financial assistance to meritorious students. Applicants from the economically weaker sections can avail the scholarship to continue their first full-time postgraduate degree. Under this scheme, candidates will get a monthly stipend of Rs 15,000 for 10 months each year across the duration of their PG course.
