School Summer Holidays 2026: Summer vacations have started in many states across the country. Amid the heat waves, several states have ordered summer vacations to protect students from severe temperatures. Delhi has announced summer vacations from May 11 for a total of 51 days, while Rajasthan declared summer holidays for 35 days starting from May 17. In the states of Bihar and Haryana, the holidays are about to begin.

School Summer Holidays 2026: Check State-Wise Vacation Dates

The soaring temperatures across the country have led to the closure of schools in many states for early summer vacations. Here is the detailed list of the summer vacations across the country.

Summer Vacations In UP

Schools in UP will have summer vacations from May 20 to June 15, 2026, for a total of only 27 days. Compared to earlier, schools were typically closed from May 20 to June 30 for a total of 42 days. 

With the soaring temperatures in many districts across the state, the administration has ordered the immediate closure of schools in major cities like Kanpur and Meerut. Prioritizing student health, the local authorities have made this decision.

Schools Holidays In Bihar And Haryana

Schools will remain closed for 20 days in Bihar and 30 days in Haryana. Summer vacations in Bihar will start from  June 1 to June 20, while in Haryana, schools will remain closed from June 25 to June 30, 2026. 

After a full year of studying, students eagerly await these holidays. During these holidays, children plan trips and have fun, taking their minds off their studies. These holidays also refresh them, and then they can return to their studies for the rest of the year.  

Heat Waves Across the Country

Amid the rising temperatures and heat waves across the country, experts have issued strict public safety guidelines to prevent dehydration and heat exhaustion. Doctors have strongly recommended that citizens remain indoors during the wee hours between 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM unless necessary. Until the heatwave flags break, increase fluid intake, monitor vulnerable age groups, and maintain continuous indoor cooling.
