Tripura has ordered school closures from April 24 to May 1, and Jharkhand authorities have advised temporary shutdowns in severely affected districts. These steps highlight the seriousness of the ongoing heatwave and its impact on education.

 Due to the severe summer conditions, parents and students are wondering whether there will be an early summer break from the scheduled summer vacation, which usually starts from mid-May. As per the Directorate of Education academic calendar, summer vacations in Delhi will be from May 11 to June 30, 2026. 

Summer vacations have officially begun across the state (except in the Darjeeling district) as of 22 April.

As per the official directive, all schools in Noida will now function from 7:30 AM to 12:30 PM. The revised timings are effective from April 27, 2026, and will remain in force until further notice.

The order applies to all educational institutions in the district, including government schools, private schools, and institutions affiliated with CBSE, ICSE, IB, UP Board, and other boards.

Holidays declared until April 30 due to severe heat. Schools in Bhopal (Nursery to Class 8) to remain closed.

Buddha Purnima on Friday, 1st May, and

Id-ul-Zuha (Bakrid) on Wednesday, 27th May.,

To keep children safe during this summer season, parents should keep the following points in mind:

1. Hydration is Key: Fill your children's water bottles with lemon water, glucose, or ORS to prevent an electrolyte deficiency in their bodies.

2. Appropriate Clothing: Dress children in cotton and light-colored clothes. Advise them to use a hat or an umbrella to cover their heads.

3. Focus on Diet: Instead of packing heavy or fried foods in their lunchboxes, provide fruits (such as watermelon or cucumber) and light meals.

As per media reports, revised timings include: 

Uttar Pradesh: 7:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.

Jharkhand: 7:00 a.m.–11:30 a.m.

Patna: until 11:30 a.m.

Madhya Pradesh: 7:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.

Odisha: 6:30 a.m.–10:30 a.m.

Maharashtra: 7:00 a.m.–11:15 a.m.

Noida: 7:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m.

The Jharkhand government has revised school timings across the state in response to rising temperatures. To safeguard students, schools have been directed to begin classes at 7 am. Under the new schedule, institutions will function until 12:00 Noon for all classes.

According to reports, the timings will remain uniform across districts. Classes from KG to Class 8 will run from 7 am to 11:30 am, while those from Class 9 to 12 will continue until 12 Noon.

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced on Friday that, in view of the prevailing heatwave conditions, summer vacations in schools will commence from April 27. According to the Chief Minister's Office, this decision was taken following recommendations from the School and Mass Education Department.

The Dehradun district administration ordered the closure of all schools and anganwadi centres for Classes 1 to 12 due to extreme heat. The city recorded 39.2°C- five degrees above normal. Pantnagar hit 39.8°C, the highest in Uttarakhand. No relief is expected for the next 1–2 days per IMD forecast.

The IMD has issued a heatwave warning for Maharashtra after Akola recorded a scorching 46.9°C on April 26, 2026. Citizens are advised to stay hydrated, wear light clothing, avoid sunlight between 12 PM to 4 PM, and protect children and the elderly.
