The Rhodes Trust has officially opened applications for the Rhodes Scholarship 2027 for Indian students aspiring to pursue postgraduate studies at the University of Oxford. Recognised among the world's most prestigious international scholarships, the programme provides comprehensive financial support to academically outstanding students with leadership potential.

For the October 2027 intake, five scholarships have been earmarked for candidates from India. Interested students can submit their applications online through the official process. The application window opened on June 1, 2026, and the last date to apply is July 23, 2026.

The Rhodes Scholarship selection process spans several months before successful candidates begin their studies at Oxford University.

Eligibility Criteria for Indian Students

Applicants must be Indian citizens and hold a valid Indian passport or equivalent proof of citizenship. OCI and PIO cards are not accepted as proof of nationality.

Candidates should have completed at least four years of formal education in India during the previous ten years. Final-year undergraduate students are also eligible to apply. Generally, applicants must be between 18 and 23 years of age as of October 1, 2026, although certain age relaxations are available under specific conditions.

Students must complete their undergraduate degree by July 2027 and demonstrate proficiency in the English language.

Steps To Apply for the Rhodes Scholarship 2027

Students can submit their applications online by following these steps:

  1. Visit the official Rhodes Trust website.
  2. Create an account and access the application portal.
  3. Fill in personal, academic and extracurricular details.
  4. Upload the required documents and references.
  5. Review the application carefully.
  6. Submit the form before July 23, 2026.

There is no application fee for applying to the scholarship programme.

What Does the Rhodes Scholarship Cover?

The Rhodes Scholarship offers full tuition support at the University of Oxford and an annual stipend of £20,400 for living expenses.

Selected scholars also receive assistance for visa and immigration health surcharge fees, Oxford application fees, economy-class travel to and from the United Kingdom, and a settling-in allowance. Additional financial support may also be available for students transitioning to a second course at Oxford.

Candidates selected through the Rhodes process will later receive guidance regarding admission to their chosen postgraduate programme at Oxford University.
