Punjab Board Class 8th Result Released: The Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) has officially declared the Class 8 examination results for 2026, recording an impressive overall pass percentage of 96.51 per cent. The results highlight strong academic performance by students across the state, with government schools securing top ranks in the merit list.
A total of 2,62,966 students appeared for the examination, out of which 2,53,789 successfully cleared the exam. Girls once again outperformed boys, achieving a pass percentage of 97.74 per cent, compared to 95.42 per cent among male students.
Punjab Board Class 8th Result Out: Tamana Tops with Perfect Score
Tamana, a student of Saraswati Senior Secondary School in Jaito, Faridkot district, secured the first position in the state by scoring a flawless 600 out of 600 marks. Her remarkable achievement has brought pride to her school and district.
Japneet Kaur from Government Middle School, Arkwas in Sangrur district secured the second position with 598 marks (99.67%). Jashandeep Kaur from Sant Mohan Das Memorial Senior Secondary School, Kot Sukhia in Faridkot, stood third with the same impressive score. Notably, all the top three rank holders are also sports achievers.
Government Schools Shine in Merit List:
Government schools delivered an outstanding performance in this year’s examination by securing prominent positions in the state merit list. Education experts believe that improved teaching methods, better monitoring and academic support programmes have contributed to these results.
The success of students from government schools reflects the growing effectiveness of the education reforms implemented in the state.
Minister Credits Government Reforms:
Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains congratulated the successful students and appreciated their hard work. He credited the improved results to education reforms introduced by the government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
According to the minister, the government has been focusing on strengthening school infrastructure, improving teacher training, and enhancing the overall quality of education in the state.
