School Holiday Tomorrow: Following the 'Red Alert' issued by the Meteorological Department for heavy rainfall, the Palghar district administration in Maharashtra has declared a holiday for all schools, colleges, and Anganwadi centers on Thursday. Officials stated that this decision was taken as a precautionary measure, as several parts of the district are already affected by continuous rain and even heavier rainfall is expected tomorrow.
Official Order Issued by District Administration
District Collector Indurani Jakhar issued an official order declaring a holiday for all educational institutions in Palghar district on July 2, 2026. The order covers government and private schools, colleges, anganwadis and vocational institutions operating across the district.
The India Meteorological Department issued a red alert warning for extremely heavy rainfall in Palghar district for July 2. Authorities said the weather conditions may worsen and urged residents to remain cautious and follow official advisories.
Holiday for Schools, Colleges and Anganwadis
The holiday applies to anganwadis, government and private primary and secondary schools, municipal schools, Zilla Parishad schools, aided and unaided institutions, ashram schools and colleges. Educational institutions operating under vocational and training departments will also remain closed for the day.
Despite the holiday for students, principals, teachers and non-teaching staff have been instructed to remain present during office hours. Officials said staff members may be required to assist local authorities in disaster management and emergency response activities if necessary.

Precautionary Step Amid Continuous Rainfall
Heavy rainfall has continued across several parts of Palghar district over the past few days.The administration said declaring a holiday in advance would help avoid inconvenience and ensure the safety of students and parents during adverse weather conditions.
