Odisha Summer Vacations 2026: To give relief to school children, CM has approved the request of the School and Mass Education Department for an early summer vacation. Amidst this soaring heat, the summer vacations across Odisha will start early from April 27, 2026. However, previously scheduled examinations, census-related work, and other official activities will continue as per schedule. Children are advised to stay indoors and remain hydrated to beat this weather.
Odisha Summer Vacations 2026: Yellow Alert Across Several Districts of Odisha
As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Bhubaneswar, severe heatwave conditions are likely to prevail across various districts in Odisha. These include:
1. Bolangir -
2. Jharsuguda
3. Sambalpur
4. Keonjhar
5. Khordha.
The temperature in almost 24 towns remained above 40 degrees Celsius on Thursday, with Jharsuguda and Talcher topping the list at 44 degrees Celsius each. The temperature in Jharsuguda had already crossed 40 degrees Celsius till 11.30 a.m. on Friday, with the mercury hovering close to the same mark in several areas.
Odisha Summer Vacations 2026: Schools Suspended Due To Heatwaves
Heatwaves had been prevailing in the region, causing many cases of heatstrokes. Seeing this, the District Collector has reportedly suspended school classes preventing children from such incidents. Following the heatstroke incidents, the State Government further halted census work between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. in view of the safety of enumerators.
Odisha Summer Vacations 2026: Advisory To Children
In lieu of the heat conditions prevailing in the state, children must hydrate enough to beat this weather. Drink ample amounts of water to cope up with the heatwaves. It is advisable to remain indoors to avoid heatwaves. As per the IMD, the temperature will remain the same over the next two-three days. It may fall by 2-3 degrees Celsius thereafter.
