All schools in Ranchi district shall be closed from October 28 to 29 because of the cyclonic circulation ‘Arnab’, which is likely to bring heavy rains in Ranchi district. According to the Meteorological Department, Ranchi falls under the ‘Orange Zone’. Thus, the district administration has declared a two-day closure for all educational institutions, right from KG to Class 12.
It will affect all kinds of schools, whether they are Government, non-Government, or Private schools. The order has been made under the Disaster Management Act, 2005..
Order Issued Under Disaster Management Act
The Ranchi district administration issued the closure order under Section 34 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, citing the risk of heavy rain linked to the cyclone. The directive applies to every government, non-government and private school in the district, covering students from KG through Class 12. Classes will stay suspended on both days, October 28 and 29, as authorities prioritise the safety of children during the forecast bad weather.
Private Schools Get Flexibility on Exams
Private schools have been given the freedom to decide on examinations already scheduled for these dates. However, they must inform the District Education Officer or the District Superintendent of Education’s office about whatever decision they take. This condition is meant to keep the administration informed and ensure that schools do not act without proper communication during the weather alert.
