National Renewable Energy Quiz 2026: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has urged universities and higher educational institutions to give wide publicity to RE-Think Beyond Energy, the National Renewable Energy Quiz 2026. The initiative is being organised by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India, in association with the National Solar Energy Federation of India (NSEFI), as part of the outreach programme for the Bharat Renewable Energy Summit & Expo (BRESE) 2026.

The quiz aims to engage young people with renewable energy, climate action, sustainability and India's clean-energy transition. The College Student category is open to full-time college students aged 17 to 25 years.

Students will participate in teams of two. The Regional Round will be conducted online on September 22, 23 and 24, 2026, while the Grand Final for qualifying college teams will take place on November 5, 2026, at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.

RE Quiz 2026 Eligibility

The College Student category is open to full-time college students between 17 and 25 years of age. Each team must consist of two participants. Teams will participate within their respective category.

The broader RE competition also includes school students from Classes 9 to 12 and young professionals up to 30 years of age. However, the college student category will culminate in an in-person Grand Final at Bharat Mandapam during BRESE 2026.

Renewable Energy Quiz 2026: What Will Students Be Asked?

The quiz will focus on the theme “Renewable Energy for a Viksit Bharat”. Questions are designed to be accessible and non-technical, covering renewable energy, India's clean-energy transition, government initiatives, emerging technologies, climate action and everyday energy awareness.

Indicative topics include solar energy, rooftop solar, solar parks, wind, hydro and bioenergy, green hydrogen, battery storage, floating solar, agrivoltaics and waste-to-energy.

Students may also encounter questions related to government initiatives such as PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, PM-KUSUM and the National Green Hydrogen Mission, along with India's climate commitments and sustainable energy practices.

RE Quiz 2026: Prize Money

The top-performing teams in the College Student category will be recognised with cash prizes. According to the communication shared with the UGC, the awards are:

First Position: Rs 1,00,000 cash prize

Second Position: Rs 60,000 cash prize

Third Position: Rs 40,000 cash prize

Certificates and recognition will also be provided to qualifying and finalist participants, subject to the final award and certificate structure.

How Will the RE Quiz 2026 Be Conducted?

The competition will begin with team registration, followed by the Regional Round. Registered teams will be grouped into five regions- North, West, South, East and North East.

The Regional Round will be conducted online from September 22 to 24. As per the concept note, three teams from each region are proposed to qualify for subsequent stages, subject to the approved quiz rules and final qualification structure.
