NEET Re-Exam Heatwave Safety Measures:  Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has written to all Chief Ministers, Lieutenant Governors, and Administrators across the country, seeking full cooperation for the safe, secure, and fair conduct of the NEET (UG) 2026 re-examination scheduled for June 21. In view of the ongoing severe heatwave conditions in several parts of the country, the Minister has asked States and Union Territories to ensure adequate facilities for students appearing in the examination.

The Ministry of Education also shared this information on the social media platform X, highlighting the Centre’s focus on student welfare and examination preparedness amid extreme weather conditions. The ministry reiterated that the well-being and convenience of aspirants remain the top priority during the nationwide re-examination process.

 

Why Has The Centre Issued Special Instructions For NEET Re-Exam?

The Centre issued these directions due to the intense heatwave conditions being experienced across many states during June. With lakhs of students expected to appear for the NEET UG re-examination, authorities are focusing on minimizing discomfort and health-related risks for candidates.

The Union Minister emphasized that district administrations and institutions hosting examination centres must work together to provide a smooth and student-friendly environment on exam day.

What Facilities Have States Been Asked To Provide?

According to the letter issued by the Union Education Minister, States and UTs have been requested to arrange essential facilities at examination centres. These include:

-Safe drinking water

-Functional fans and coolers

-Clean washrooms

-Portable toilets where needed

-Shaded waiting areas

-Adequate seating arrangements

-Continuous electricity supply

The government has also advised local administrations to ensure that transportation facilities remain available for students on June 21 so that candidates can reach centres without difficulty.

What Did Dharmendra Pradhan Say About The Examination?

Dharmendra Pradhan expressed confidence that all States and Union Territories would extend complete cooperation for the transparent and successful conduct of the NEET UG 2026 re-examination.

He underlined that the interests, safety, and well-being of students are of paramount importance and called for coordinated efforts from district authorities, educational institutions, and local administrations to maintain fairness and smooth conduct of the examination across the country.
