Gujarat School Holiday Update: Following the prediction of heavy rainfall tomorrow, authorities in Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Anand, Vadodara and Navsari have declared a holiday for schools and colleges. Meanwhile, in Kheda district, all schools, colleges, and Anganwadis across the district will remain closed on July 31 and August 1 due to a heavy rainfall forecast.

The India Meteorological Department has issued an 'Orange Alert' for heavy to very heavy rainfall with the possibility of thunderstorms in Kheda district between July 31 and August 1, 2026. Keeping this forecast in view, District Magistrate N. V. Upadhyay ordered the closure of educational activities across all talukas of Kheda district, including urban areas, to prevent any untoward incident and prioritise student safety.

What Does The Official Order Say?

Exercising powers under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Protection Code, 2023, the District Magistrate of Kheda, N. V. Upadhyay, ordered the closure of Anganwadis, government and private primary and secondary schools, higher secondary schools, ITIs, colleges, and all other educational institutions across the entire Kheda district, including urban areas, for July 31 and August 1, 2026.

What Happens If The Order Is Violated?

As per the notification, any person found violating or contravening the order will be liable for punishment under Section 223 of the Indian Penal Code. All officers holding the rank of Assistant Sub Inspector or above serving in Kheda district have been authorised to file complaints against violators of this notification.

Which Other Districts Have Declared Holidays?

Apart from Kheda, Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Anand and Navsari districts have also announced school and college holidays tomorrow in view of the heavy rainfall forecast, as authorities in these regions take precautionary measures to ensure student safety amid worsening weather conditions.

Advisory For Parents And Students

Parents and students in the affected districts are advised to stay updated through official district administration announcements and avoid unnecessary travel during the alert period. Students should avoid stepping out during heavy rain or thunderstorm activity, and parents are urged to keep children indoors and away from waterlogged or low-lying areas.

It is also recommended to regularly check with respective schools or colleges for further updates, as additional districts may announce closures depending on how the weather situation develops over the next 48 hours.
