CBSE Third Language: The Central Board of Secondary Education has issued an urgent notice directing all schools to follow the third language model within 7 days in Class VI. The announcement came as part of the Circular No. Acad-17/2026 dated April 9, 2026, in line with the revised Scheme of Studies for the academic session 2026–27.

Calling the move "urgent and mandatory", the Board has directed all schools to start with the r3 model immediately, even if the textbooks are not available. The structure of the R1, R2, and R3 models was proposed by the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCFSE-2023). It aims to enhance linguistic skills, cultural understanding, and national integration among students by helping them learn different Indian languages.
