Following improvement in air quality and the withdrawal of the second phase of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP-II), the New Delhi Municipal Council has rolled back the enhanced parking charges across its jurisdiction.
The civic body had doubled parking fees on October 29, 2025, after GRAP-II restrictions were implemented to combat rising air pollution levels in the capital. With the restrictions lifted on February 18, NDMC issued a public notice on February 21 withdrawing the earlier order and reinstating the previous parking rates.

A senior NDMC official said that under GRAP-II guidelines, measures are taken to discourage private vehicle use and encourage public transport during periods of poor air quality, which includes increasing parking charges.
NDMC operates around 126 parking lots, with off-street parking in Connaught Place being among the most in demand.
Under the revised rates:
- Ground-floor parking for four-wheelers in key commercial areas like Connaught Place has been reduced from Rs 40 per hour to Rs 20 per hour.
- Two-wheeler parking charges have been cut from Rs 20 to Rs 10 per hour.
- Bus parking fees have been reduced from Rs 200 to Rs 150 per hour.
Underground parking rates have also been lowered:
- Two-wheelers will now be charged Rs 5 per hour instead of Rs 10.
- Four-wheelers will pay Rs 10 per hour instead of Rs 20.

Officials clarified that there has been no change in street parking charges or monthly pass rates. High-demand areas such as Bengali Market and Pandara Road Market will continue to have parking charges of Rs 50 per hour.
The rollback is expected to provide relief to commuters as air quality levels show sustained improvement in the city.
