In a tragic incident, a 45-year-old man allegedly jumped in front of a train at Uttam Nagar East Metro station, taking his own life. As per the officials, the incident took place around 9.50 am on Tuesday.

Identified as Maharaj Singh from Rajasthan, the deceased, working as a painter, had come to Delhi to attend a wedding. He has been suffering from depression for many years.

"The incident took place at 9:50 am when the man climbed down from the platform onto the tracks and was run over by a train," PTI quoted DCP (Metro) Kushal Pal Singh.

As per the initial investigation, Singh was undergoing treatment at the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, New Delhi, and had visited the hospital on Monday.

"Singh is survived by his wife, their 18-year-old daughter, and two sons aged 17 and 20. The body has been shifted to the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital for post-mortem," the officer said.

In a similar incident, a 17-year-old boy died by suicide after jumping in front of the metro at platform 1 of the Uttam Nagar East Metro station on Friday. The deceased, identified as Ashwani Dagar, studied at a private coaching centre in Uttam Nagar and was distressed over some personal issues.
