GT vs RR IPL 2026: India's ODI and Test skipper Shubman Gill has sustained an injury and will be giving the GT vs RR IPL 2026 match a miss. Gill, who is also the captain of the Gujarat Titans, has been replaced by Rashid Khan. Rashid emphasized that Gill had sustained a muscle spasm. "We wanted to bowl first. Gill has a muscle spasm; hopefully, he will be back soon. KK (Kumar Kushagra) is playing his first game, and I look forward to seeing him play. We played good cricket in the last game as well. It was a good game. We need to bring out 100%," Rashid Khan, who is the stand-in captain of the Gujarat Titans, was heard as saying at the toss.
Riyan Parag had won the toss and chose to bat first against the Rashid Khan-led side during their IPL match on Saturday. The Gujarat-based franchise is missing the services of captain Shubman Gill due to a muscle spasm, and Rashid Khan has been named as the stand-in captain. Kumar Kushagra will be taking Gill's place.
The Rajasthan-based franchise made two changes to its playing XI, with Tushar Deshpande and Shubham Dubey replacing Brijesh Sharma and Ravi Bishnoi.
The Rashid Khan-led side will try to register their first win of the year, as they lost to the Punjab Kings in their first match. Even though they posted a respectable target of 162 runs, they failed to defend it as their bowlers struggled at important junctures, and they let the Punjab batters chase the target with five balls remaining.
On the other hand, the Rajasthan Royals will be riding high on confidence as they defeated the Chennai Super Kings during their tournament opener. They had put up a brilliant match-winning performance, as they had skittled the Chennai-based franchise for just 127 runs and then chased the target within 13 overs. Jofra Archer and Nandre Burger spearheaded their bowling attack, whereas youngster Vaibhav Sooryavanshi smashed a brilliant half-century.
