The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Women have announced India's squad for the upcoming Women's T20 World Cup 2026, which is scheduled to start from June 12. 2025 ODI World Cup-winning captain Harmanpreet Kaur will lead the side, and Smriti Mandhana will be her deputy. However, uncapped young speedster Nandani Sharma is making headlines after getting a maiden call-up for the marquee event after a memorable outing in the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2026.
Who is Nandani Sharma?
Nandani Sharma was born on September 20, 2001, in Chandigarh. She played 10 matches for Delhi Capitals in WPL 2026 and made a strong impact. Bought for just Rs 20 lakh at the auction, she picked up 17 wickets in those games.

Nandani Sharma's WPL Heroics
She also created history by becoming the first Indian bowler to take both a five-wicket haul and a hat-trick in the same WPL season for Delhi Capitals (DC). Earlier this year, she was part of India’s squad for the Women’s Asia Cup Rising Stars tournament hosted in Bangkok.
Before the T20 World Cup 2026, the same Indian squad will play a three-match T20I series against England as the preparations for the showcase event, which will start from May 28.
India’s batting will rely on experienced names like Smriti Mandhana, Shafali Verma, Jemimah Rodrigues and Richa Ghosh. On the bowling side, Deepti Sharma and Renuka Singh will carry most of the responsibility.

However, Kashvee Gautam and Amanjot Kaur missed out on the squad due to injuries, and Pratika Rawal did not find a place in the Women in Blue side.
