CSK vs RCB IPL 2026: Virat Kohli batted as an opener for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru during their IPL 2026 match against the Chennai Super Kings. The match is being held at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, where the star batter surpassed Rohit Sharma's tally of smashing the most runs against a single team in this tournament.

Rohit, the league's second most experienced player, had amassed 1,161 runs in 36 IPL matches against the Ajinkya Rahane-led side. In the same number of games, Kohli has now reached 1,162 runs against the Chennai-based franchise.

Virat Kohli just had to score 16 runs during their IPL 2026 match against CSK to break Kohli's record, and he did so on the third ball of the fourth over of the first innings, which was bowled by Matt Henry.

Apart from surpassing Rohit's tally of smashing the most runs against a single opponent in this tournament, Kohli had broken his own record of smashing the most runs against a single opponent in the shortest format.

Kohli had to score just two runs against the Ruturaj Gaikwad-led side to surpass Rohit's record of scoring the most runs against KKR, and he achieved this milestone by scoring two runs during the first over of the first innings.

Besides playing 36 matches against the Chennai-based franchise, he also featured during one Champions League T20 match against the same opponent, where he smashed 14 runs.
